After a month and a half of planning, my team was finally able to go to Pataan Mountain Resort in Bago City. The resort is an hour's ride from Bacolod City and we sure got a little deaf and had ringing in our ears on our way up. The resort has been operating for 4 years now and was virtually unknown to Ilonggos up until the place was featured on TV last year. Prices are pretty reasonable and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. We came on a weekday so we had the place literally to ourselves. We had perfect cool yet sunny weather in contrast to the non stop rain we got back in the city. We enjoyed the climb and the back massage we got from lying underneath the falls, the cool as ice water in the pool (talk about Hypothermia here! :) ) and the breathtaking and endless view of mountains.

The team and I couldn't stop bragging about our experience in Pataan!

In your lifetime you will meet all sorts of people. People who are into sports, people who do nothing but drink everyday of every week, people who are full of angst and do nothing but complain, the total opposite sweetie pies who seem to be coated with sugar, pretty boys who treat their car as they would their most precious lives, single moms or single dads who do overtime everyday just to make ends meet and husbands who have domineering wives who give them 60p per day for allowance. Although this does not summarize all personalities at our workplace, Ken and I would meet these kinds of people everyday. What with the 2000 plus population that we have at work, that list doesn’t even compromise a fraction of a percent. It would be so easy to bump into at least 1 coworker every 5 minutes when we stroll around a mall (Yes, Ken and I have kept tab.J ) I’m proudest to say that we not only have a working relationship with them. We have become friends with most of them and have gotten to know them more than just a name a face. Today, as my sweetie celebrates his birthday, I have come to prove that even more. With the mix of faces and personalities who came to his mini party, talking, laughing, eating and drinking, I can say Ken is more than just their Manager. I know they see him as a friend above everything else. While they are out there singing ”Happy Birthday” at the top of their drunk lungs, I couldn’t be any more happier for him. Happy Birthday sweetie! May you touch more lives as you have surely touched mine.
My name is Bianca and I’m 25 years old. I’am currently working as an Operations Supervisor in one of the call centers here in Bacolod City, Philippines. During the past 3 years, my experience has been concentrated in areas of technical support and customer service. In my current position as Technical Operations Supervisor, I maintain the same efficiency and accuracy in providing technical support to customers. This position also requires generating detailed reports for management. My position has given me the opportunity to set policies and procedures, implement systems, and participate in staffing and training personnel.

That’s the first half of my cover letter to about a hundred online jobs that I applied for since March 2009. But that’s not even half of who I really am.

I graduated from The University of Negros Occidental Recoletos with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. I have always wanted to be a Doctor and most especially...so does my Dad. I had thoughts of being a Pediatrician, a Surgeon or a even a Pathologist. Just to make the long story short, I didn’t make it to Med School. Financially, the only option was for me to start working and forgo my dream of becoming a Doctor for the meantime… or so I thought. I felt bare during those times because I didn’t know where else to go and I’ve patterned my entire life so I become a Doctor. At 21 I started to become the family’s breadwinner.

I started teaching English to Korean students. I was paid 50p per hour and a student was calling me “mosquito face.” What he meant was my face was to small and my features where too close together. I thought I looked like the bug. After 8 months I applied and got accepted as an agent in a call center. I didn’t know what a call center agent does; let alone where the calls are coming from. After a few months, I got a hang of the job and learned to love its perks and hazards. Now as a Team Lead, I’ve learned how the business runs and how to set aside prejudices and lead a team of agents I barely know.

Now what was I doing applying to hundreds of online jobs? I needed an online job. I am in the middle of constructing my house (yippee) so I need all the financial help I could get. Turns out, the skills I learned from the call center have given me an edge over other applicants. In a span of 4 months, I have worked for 3 different online jobs.I Had to give up the first two because of the 1$ per hour pay. So aside from working fulltime as a Team Lead, I also work part time as a Virtual Assistant.

Juggling time between my two jobs, my family and friends is a growing challenge. And yet here I am and my budding entreprenuer inside who dreams of putting up a business in between all this madness. I love being busy though...keeps me fueled and hyped for more. That could happen..soon I hope. I've had numerous attempts at starting a business. Some went well but had to be given up and some started as huge flops. Oh well, there is no point in giving up. :)

So you see, I'm all over the place. And more often that not, I have been spreading myself too thin over the numerous responsibilities I take on. This blog should be a hodgepodge of thoughts and events that would lead me to realizing what my real priority is. At this point.. it's SLEEP. Talk to you soon guys. :)
